Two Thanksgivings ago I scheduled braces for Jessa two days before we left and I never heard the end of it...so I thought why not schedule knee surgery. We thought it would just be a scope, but it ended up being an ACL repair. Jessa didn't believe me when coming out of anesthesia.
This was her face when I told her for the 15th time that they did ACL surgery. She laughed and laughed and made fun of us parents for letting her play on a torn ACL and then she cried and then she laughed some more. She kept telling me "What kind of parents let their child play on a torn ACL?! and then she would laugh some more. I got some good videos of her coming off her meds. As soon as she was coherent enough she says welp, lets drive to St. George for Thanksgiving. I told her that we didn't have to go anymore, but she was dead set on not missing out on all the fun bum knee and all. I loved how she still didn't want to miss Thanksgiving with family!
Emily recruited the teenagers and Natalie to go hiking the stairs with her. She is the best!
Everywhere we went Jessa had a setup for her. This family is the best! They were so sweet with her making sure she was comfortable the whole time.
Grandma and grandpa brought in a recliner for her and gave us their bedroom so that Jessa didn't have to go all the way downstairs and I was able to sleep next to her to wake her up to give her her meds. She was the best patient. Hardly complained. I'm glad she wasn't in a lot of pain. ACL surgery has come a long ways since my time.
The meds were working great! So glad she was comfortable most of the time. I didn't have to do my regular duties so it worked out well that I could just focus on her instead of working around the house.
We got to stay in grandmas and grandpas new house. It was perfect for big crowds and for a thanksgiving dinner.
Watching the game all together. I think this is what Michael thinks heaven will be like. He loved this.
This is a picture of just the grandkids! That's a lot of posterity.
The younger cousins idolize my teenager kids and they absolutely love to be revered so much!
All the cousins made a fort in the back ravine and then they started to take the trail apart, so we had to refocus their attention. They can certainly make a dent in things with that many little hands!
A favorite tradition is making ginger bread houses. I'm afraid I'll have to be doing this with my own grands someday. The kids will demand it. Its one of their core memories.
Quinton's strategy is usually to put as much candy on his house as possible so that he can eat it for days and days after.
Gary and Wade are obsessed with Jessa. They talk about her all the time. Wade said that he was going to run away and go live with Jessa! LOL.
