This shipwreck was fun. The boys started playing on it like they were actually shipwrecked. It was pretty cute. I also remember Josh falling into the mud with his brand new Brooks shoes. It was a good time for sure.
One of my favorite pictures of the trip. These boys are photogenic.
Lucas was cooking dinner for the "crew." I loved that they were using their imagination.
There was huge marathon in San Francisco so we had to improvise. It ended up being really fun going to point Reyes and seeing the old post office building and where they used to receive Morris code messages from the ships and Mayday signals because of the nearby rocks. The light house would help steer ships away from the rocks, but rescue crews were still often dispatched. The original power lines are still there today.
These were the wires that the ships would use to send their message via Morris Code. These are the original power lines. Pretty cool
The light house was beautiful. I can't imagine living there for my job with my family. We got to go all the way inside the lighthouse. It was really fun to get away from the city and the crowds. There were a bunch of marathons in San Francisco that day, so we decided to go see Point Reyes. It didn't disappoint and it was a fun contrast to the city.
We climbed up and down 313 stairs to get to the light house.
The coast line was gorgeous and deserted.
We found so many sand dollars.
We walked about 3 miles down the beach to the elephant seal colony. Two seals were fighting each other. they basically ignored us and we were able to get close to check them out.
Lucas got too wet after all this and couldn't go see the seals. He went and sat in the car while we hiked to the seals. It was disappointing, but I guess thats how it goes sometimes.
