Daddy's Girl

With Jayla being 10 months old, gone are the days that she used to sit still and cuddle with us for longer than 2 seconds. Sometimes we miss those days, but to tell you the truth she keeps getting more and more fun. Here are a couple good memories of Jayla cuddling with her daddy.

1 Month old

3 Months Old

6 Months Old

9 Months Old

10 Months!

Time is flying. Jayla is already 10 months old! She is a very active little girl. She loves to get into everything. She's getting very good at walking. She walks across the furniture and then lets go. She can even walk across the living room if she doesn't get too excited. When she gets too excited she thinks that she can run. When we say "go go" she takes off walking saying " ga, ga, ga" the whole time.

She can waive goodbye and says "baba" whenever anyone says bye to her. She can point to her nose and she tries to bark like the dogs when we go for walks. She loves to be read to and loves to turn the pages. She loves to crawl over to the window to look outside at all of the cars and people walking past. She is so smart! Her newest love is dropping things down the vents. That is a really fun activity!

Her hair is starting to thicken up. She is 2 feet 6 inches tall and 23 lbs. She has 1 more bottom tooth coming in along with her two top teeth making it a total of 5 teeth. She loves to eat and we are endlessly trying to keep her full. Notice her cute little toad belly!! She loves to "copycat" us at whatever we do. She always always has a smile on her face.

The Mall

My mom took Yvonne (my sister-in-law) and me to the mall with all of the kids. They were excited that they would be able to ride a train and the school bus. Little 2 year old Vanessa was a little scared about the whole thing, but Jayla and 4 year old Wesley loved it! Jayla isn't quite old enough to be afraid of things, plus it really isn't in her nature to be scared.

Isn't she ADORABLE! Her birthmom gave her that cute bow that she is wearing.

Vanessa is saying "cheese " for the camera and Jayla is trying to rip all of the buttons off of the wall in the school bus.

Wesley and Jayla wanted to ride on a simulated roller coaster. It was too scary for Vanessa.

What would a day at the mall be without going out for lunch. Jayla kept stuffing her mouth full of bread and crackers. Vanessa, being the considerate little girl that she is, didn't want Jayla to miss out on anything so she made sure that jayla had some crayons too. I had to keep taking them away from her so that she wouldn't eat them, but some how she kept ending up with one in her hand.....

Utah vs. BYU

We took Jayla to a gymnastics meet this week. She had a ball squealing at all of the fans. She thinks that they are all here to see her. She loved all of the music. After an event everyone would clap, so Jayla had to join in and clap with them. It was hilarious because only when she was clapping she would cheer, or her version of a cheer. She wanted to be just like everyone else. Well of course the U won. They were amazing. I don't know how they do some of those routines. (Notice the huge croud of Ute fans in the background.) We think that they had more fans than BYU.

Speed Walker

Jayla took her first steps at nine and a half months old!!! Only when she walks she actually tries to run. We tell her that she would be able to walk if she just slowed down, but Jayla has never been the slow type. According to Jayla the faster the better. We are not surprised that she has learned to walk so early. Ever since she was 6 months old she had us holding her hands walking her around. To slow her down we put shoes on her, but as you can see in the videos the shoes that her birthmom gave her don't do the trick. She has a mind of her own and she is always trying to grow up way too fast!

Mountain Climber or Swimmer?

Jayla loves the bathroom. To her it is a mysterious room full of wonder that for some reason is 'off limits.' If we ever leave the bathroom door open (and she always knows about it!) she makes a break for it.

Once she gets into the bathroom she starts exploring!... Exploring that we'd rather she didn't experience. Hopefully this means she'll want to be potty trained early.

After SCRUBBING her hands and arms and giving her a bath we closed the door to the bathroom very TIGHTLY....hoping that she would forget about the mysteries of the bathroom.

Yesterday while Michael was getting ready for Church he went into the bedroom for about 10 seconds and it was just enough time for Jayla to find the toilet paper. She unraveled the WHOLE roll and then tried to leave all inconspicuously. The problem was that the toilet paper was stuck to her knee as she crawled to make her get away. When Michael came out of the bedroom he knew exactly what she'd been up t0. She was caught!

The only thing in the house that rivals the bathroom in interest are the stairs. She loves to climb them! She is really fast and sure footed about it! So we have to keep an eye on her or she is on her way to the top!

So we were wondering if she wanted to be a mountain climber or a swimmer when she gets older... What do you think?
